Scholarships for Education

The Kingwood Area Quilt Guild partners with Houston Community College in awarding scholarships to deserving students studying Clothing and Textiles at the College.  The Guild has been participating in this program for many years.  We are very proud of our commitment to education and the community.

Education has been busy again with 2010 scholarship awards. During the month of May we awarded a $500 scholarship to Meagan Silva, a very deserving graduating senior from New Caney High School.

Meagan is a very accomplished senior with great academic and career aspirations. She is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, FFA, Varsity Cheerleader Captain,

Who's Who Among American High School Students, just to name a few of her accomplishments in high school. Please see the photo at below of Meagan accepting our award at the New Caney High School Award Ceremony. Meagan was very appreciative of the scholarship and has already sent us a beautiful thank you letter. We are planning to make an additional scholarship award of $500. to another deserving High School student soon.

We have  awarded another scholarship in the amount of $500 to a very deserving student from New Caney High School. Kaeyle Gabrielle Wyatt is planning to attend The University of Texas in the fall. She is an excellent student with numerous positions of leader- ship and awards for her achievements. We wish her good luck and success in her education.

Below see a picture of the presentation as well as the quilt the guild gave to Kaelye.
