Our Speaker this month is Mary Jo Yackley
KAQG welcomes Mary Jo Yackley at our February 2^nd guild meeting. Mary Jo’s lecture, “Working with a Longarm Quilter” will help you work with your quilter to get the best results. After spending hours, dollars and mental energy on a quilt, sending it off for quilting is a scary prospect. Mary Jo’s lecture covers how to choose a long arm quilter, general guidelines, common problems and solutions, critical conversations you need to have with your longarmer, pricing and how it is calculated. She discusses batting and why it makes a difference. She will show slides and quilts as well as answer questions.

A fourth generation quilter with over 27 years of experience, Mary Jo and has been teaching quilting since 1988. She has a degree in textiles from Kent State University and a Masters degree from Purdue University in retailing, where she taught textiles. Mary Jo has operated Quiltin Time long arm custom quilting service for the past ten years and has a pattern company by the same name.

A UFO day will be held on Friday, February 3^rd at Humble Sewing Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a limited amount of space, so contact Margo Pieper if you would like to participate. Also, if you signed up to come to the UFO day and will not be able to attend, please let her know so those on the waiting list may attend.
